Pre-K

The Pre-K classes at St. Mark’s Preschool are kindergarten readiness programs with a play base.  The Head Teachers are Mrs. Wilderman, a former elementary teacher who holds a Master’s degree with a specialty in reading and Mrs. Walker, who has over 25 years of early childhood experience with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. Along with Assistant Teachers Mrs. Strazsky and Mrs. de la Rivera, the Pre-K programs provide a daily schedule that balances exploration of concepts and creativity that prepare children to be independent and joyful learners. SMP uses the Learning Without Tears program, which provides the foundation for proper letter formation to prepare children for the NCPS Fundation Reading Program. Additionally, children work at their own pace with math and writing journals. Priority spaces are for currently enrolled students with who turn five between January 1 through December 31, 2026. Children who turn five between June 15-August 30 , 2026 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. *Please note that St. Mark’s Preschool does not have a school age endorsement and therefore cannot enroll children who will turn five before the end of the current school year.
